Vis is just an hour and half off the coast of Split, in Central Dalmatia (see map above).

Flights:

easyJet (www.easyjet.com) fly to Split from London Gatwick all year round from just 40 Euros return.

British Airways (www.british-airways.com) also flies from Gatwick all year round, and although prices start around 120 Euros, they can often be cheaper than the equivalent easyJet flight.

Wizzair (www.wizzair.com) offer flights from London Luton, Budapest and Ljubljana to Split, June to October, from as little as 15 Euros one way.

German Wings (www.germanwings.com) are rumoured to be starting up new routes to Split from Frankfurt and other central European destinations for 2008.

Ferries:

Jadrolinija
(www.jadrolinija.hr) run car ferries to and from Vis twice a day outside of peak season and three times a day during the summer. Times can vary depending on the day of the week, so check their website carefully to make sure you don't miss your connecting ferry/flight.

Crossings take two hours and fifteen minutes and cost around 5 Euros per person and around 25 Eurors for a car.

Splittours (www.splittours.hr) operate the faster catamaran service. The cat leaves Vis at 07:00 every day, returning from Split at 18:00 in winter and 20:30 in summer. Tickets cost around 5 Euros per person and crossings take an hour and a half.
