Vis is just an hour and a bit off the coast of Split, in Central Dalmatia (see map above).
Flights:
easyJet (www.easyjet.com) fly to Split from London Gatwick April-November from just 40 Euros return.
Croatian Airlines (www.croatianairlines.com) fly to Split from London Gatwick all year round. Return flights cost from 150 Euros.
Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) fly to Zadar all year round from just 15 Euros one way. Zadar to Split by bus takes less than two hours and is a good budget option.
Ferries:
Jadrolinija (www.jadrolinija.hr) run car ferries to and from Vis twice a day outside of peak season and three times a day during the summer. Times can vary depending on the day of the week, so check their website carefully to make sure you don't miss your connecting ferry/flight.
Crossings take two hours and fifteen minutes and cost around 5 Euros per person and around 25 Euros for a car.
Jadrolinija also run a catamaran service that takes just one hour and fifteen minutes. The catamaran leaves Split at 3pm every day from November to June and at 6.30pm every day from June-October.
